Where are we now, and are we there yet? This lecture will review Australian art from 2000 to the present day. Through controversial case studies, Dr Sam Bowker of Charles Sturt University will discuss contemporary Australian art markets, the strategies of Biennales, the rise of the private art museum, the politics of public funding, and the place of regional arts in a thriving global industry.
