Description
Sonja was instrumental in the invention of the CSU Amazing Race. An event that ran over three consecutive years (2015 - 2017) at the Bathurst Campus. The event is designed to build community and collaborations between the university, local businesses and charities. Over three years Sonja built and organised the games and activities which brought together many different people from diverse backgrounds. Teams were encouraged from both the community and inside CSU to compete against each other to raise funds for local charities. Daffodil Cottage, a local charity that assists those with cancer, received the benefits in the first year to assist in building an extension on their services. In the second year, the Riding for the Disable group benefited with funds to build their new shed for housing animals. In the final year, Headspace, which caters for young people with mental illness received funds to go towards their local office to improve services for students of CSU.
