Description
Joining the dots: Using PebblePad (and other tools) to make connections in the world of the CSU Degree (CPD, Syndicate Rm 2) Carole Hunter, DLTS – Deb Murdoch, DLTS At the heart of the concepts of personal learning and ePortfolios is a focus on self-management and ownership of one’s learning, both formal and informal. It’s a flexible space in which to learn, commit, make mistakes, reflect, share, converse, construct and collaborate...a place to develop one’s professional identity. This makes the personal learning environment a perfect way to help support the various facets of the CSU Degree initiative, where students can bring together and present their development towards CSU, course-based and personal goals. Participants will gain an understanding of how they might achieve this through discussion of examples and possibilities, and work in small groups to develop a practical plan of how they might proceed within their course teams. Expected outcomes of the session: An understanding of how personal learning environments and ePortfolios can be used to help support various facets of the CSU Degree initiative and promote self-management and ownership of one’s learning. Academics will also develop a practical plan of how they might achieve this. Activity plan (session format): Facilitated demonstrations/discussion groups led by EDs/academics who have already embedded PP into their courses. Small group planning/brainstorming sessions to see how others could embed it in their own coursesPeriod | 10 Nov 2010 |
