Reflecting on Authentic Assessment Practices in Accounting Subjects
I am the Subject Convenor teaching ACC384 in our Bachelor of Business taught in China. The Subject ‘International Accounting Issues’ deals with contemporary matters relating to accounting for multinational corporations. Over the years teaching I have continued to develop the subject and provide authentic assessments that not only meet the subject’s Learning Outcomes, but also target CSU’s Graduate Learning Outcomes.
Two years ago, I introduced a report task that involved students discussing accounting issues regarding a publicly listed company of their choice. This year I added a divided the task in to two components, where in Part A students discussed the company and in Part B they reflected on their experience completing the task as well as their own appraisal of their work against the Marking Criteria.
I have invited Dr Youwei Huang to speak with me (who was the Local Lecturer in China who assisted in teaching the ACC384 students in Changchun (450+ students).
