Discussions and planning to create a new research project in PSY309/PSY469

Description

PSY309/PSY469 Qualitative Research Methods engages in a concrete research project with all students (On campus and Online across 5 cohorts; around 200 students in second session).

The current research project students engage in has been running for 5 years and the teaching team wish to implement a new project. We aim for the project to be something which is: a genuine contribution to knowledge which students can experience; is something the teaching team have some interest in researching; is manageable for students to undertake coursework assessments on, is not too sensitive and high risk ethically for them to engage in, and deliverable across 5 cohorts, 200 students and different modes.

We have spent this year meeting as a teaching team to discuss and design the new research project. This has included designing the methods students will engage in, creating the topic, background and rationale for that topic, and considering what ethical considerations we will need to consider when applying for ethics. This planning will lead to action in implementing the design next year and is likely to also lead to publications
