Description
Organiser NSW-wide Business Simulation called ‘Game On’ (Season 3)Organized a state-wide business simulation competition called Game On for NSW Business Studies Year 10 & 11 students. For 5 years, I had coordinated a NSW-wide online business simulation competition called CSU GameOn (that ran from February to September every year). The online simulation allowed the School and the Faculty to engage with schools, teachers and students in our regional footprint (i.e., Central West, Albury-Wodonga, Wagga Wagga and Mid North Coast), consistent with CSU’s positioning as a regional education provider. I handled all strategic aspects of the simulation from devising an industry scenario, schedule of rounds, School communication plan, student and teacher awards, as well as developing newsletter content and periodic status reports that Schools access. The simulation complements the Stage 6 NSW Business Studies curriculum and covers key areas including Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Operations. It allowed students to build and operate their own 'virtual' business in a simulated market environment, while developing skills relevant to the real world. Students learned through hands-on experience and are encouraged to apply these key business principles to their own 'virtual' business. The GameOn Competition had grown significantly over the years; e.g., the total number of participating students increased from 570 in 2012 to 885 in 2015. Feedback from the school teachers suggests that the simulation has created a positive reputation and ‘brand equity’ for the School, Faculty as well as the University among potential students and broader stakeholders.
