Description
Charles Sturt students and staff collaborated over a period of around six weeks, to host Green Talks; a free online event, on the last day of Biodiversity month, Friday the 30th of September. As the Sustainability Partnerships Coordinator, I initiated this collaborative event opportunity that saw, online students from the communication subject COM236 Event Management collaborate with staff from Charles Sturt Sustainability to design, implement and promote this public, student-driven event. Green Talks ran via the CSU Zoom platform with back-to-back sessions from 10am to 1pm. Sessions ran in 30-minute timeslots with discussion time for the 28 attendees and team of presenters. Presenters included: • Peter Mills - sustainable horticulture • Dr Sarina Kilham - sustainable food production and genetically modified foods • Dr John Rafferty - impacts of human activity on the environment • Professor David Watson and the Grace Gardening Group - bird talks and sustainable gardening This enjoyable event highlighted successful collaboration across learning and teaching and Sustainability at Charles Sturt and showcased the impressive work and efforts of our students.
