Description
On the space of artists is a collaborative professional development and research project co-facilitated by Hayley Megan French, Parramatta Artists' Studio (PAS), and Dr James Farley, Charles Sturt University. The project considers the artist studio as a social, conceptual and practised space and how this translates between Western Sydney and the Riverina region. This project brings together PAS artists Lill Colgan, Kirtika Kain and Gillian Kayrooz, and Riverina-based artists Greg Carosi, Alice Peacock and Pat Ronald. As we undertake this project, we sit together in an ever-evolving pandemic crisis that sees an ongoing reconfiguration of the space of artists, both in the sense of their studio and in the virtual spaces in which they can interact and share their work. The studio space as a space for refuge and regeneration is significant here. It plays an important role as a site for physical isolation, creative production and labour, and as a node for social connectivity.
This project will continue to unfold over 2020-2021 and is supported by Create NSW and our partners Eastern Riverina Arts and Charles Sturt University.
