Description

Keynote presentation:

Dr Gonzalez is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management and the Sub-Dean Learning & Teaching for the Faculty of Science and Health at Charles Sturt University. Her work explores how we navigate the complex and diverse interactions between people, space and place.

Dr Gonzalez will discuss ‘The Greening Economy’. Green Careers are jobs aimed at protecting and promoting the environment, or those which consider their impact on the health of the planet at all times and endeavour to minimise it. Green Careers can be in almost any sector of the economy: from agriculture, forestry, and protected area management to research and development, tourism and manufacturing. Most jobs that require green skills (skills that enable the environmental sustainability of economic activities) are not traditional green jobs. The rise of ESG (environmental, social and governance) roles, corporate social responsibility, and a growing and embedded understanding of climate change and resilience is seeing a rapid transition in the workforce.
