Pedagogy and theology of kindness

Description

Think of a time when you belong. What was it like? How can we bring this theological and pedagogical concept into the classroom so that people from all backgrounds can have authentic, transformational teaching and learning moments in a safe environment - where they feel like they belong? How can we nurture single, double and triple-loop learning so that people not only describe a concept but be able to identify, apply and reflect upon its importance for them and others? I have been thinking deeply about this. I am part of the project kindness think tank about pedagogy. I also have been doing my own reflections. And I was invited by the ANU Chaplains to be their keynote speaker at their 2022 annual lecture link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX6UWJ3MHTk and the School of Theology to present at their 2022 staff day on a pedagogy and theology of kindness and how it can scaffold learning. I keep returning to thinking about how all stakeholders can have the opportunity to share kindness and nurture each other's learning. I have done this and will continue to do this through assessment tasks, modules, and lectures. I have a ten-year personal plan for bringing the student, industry, alumni and markers' voices into the learning environment.
