Police Violence in Fiji: An Endemic Problem with no Simple End in Sight. Australian Outlook.

Activity: Engagement case studiesCommunity

Description

I was commissioned to write this article for the Australian Institute of International Affairs, Australia's leading independent foreign policy think tank. I was invited for my research expertise on Fijian politics.30 June 2022.

This activity is complex because it involves the collection, explanation, interpretation, and presentation of diverse and contested theoretical ideas. It is complex because it translates theoretically difficult concepts into easily understandable terms for a non-specialist audience and applies them to questions of contemporary public policy. It is complex because it draws on ideas developed through my research published over several years. This means that time and effort cannot be quantified with precision but that it is, nevertheless, substantial. The engagement plans and briefings occurred with the commissioning editor.
