Description
It is a well-established practice in the academic world for educational institutions to gather feedback from students to improve the quality of education. Charles Sturt University, like many others, encourages its students to provide feedback on various aspects of their education. However, it is worth noting that the feedback collected may primarily benefit future cohorts rather than the current students. As the convenor, I introduced a mid-session anonymous survey to gather feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the ITC542AD subject (Networking Fundamentals) delivery in 202360. The primary purpose of this initiative was to closely monitor the progress of the ongoing session, identify areas of improvement, and implement necessary changes to enhance the overall learning experience for the current students. The survey comprised a series of succinct and targeted questions that could be completed in under 10 minutes. The questions included asking students about the most helpful aspects of the subject, what should continue, what aspects were least helpful, and suggestions for improvement during the current session.
Based on the valuable insights provided by the students' responses, I engaged in reflective practice and introduced more hands-on training for the remainder of the session to improve the quality of delivery and enhance the student's educational experience. I also revised the Interact2 site's presentation, tone, and content to prepare students better to address learning outcomes by scaffolding the learning activities.
Upon reflection of my scholarly activity in 2023, I am proud to report that my students' progress rate was a staggering 90%. Furthermore, the SuES PPR for the ITC542AD cohort reached an impressive 95% - the best it has ever been for ITC542AD.
As an experienced educator, I am committed to maintaining a consistent and effective approach across all subjects I teach. Using proven techniques and strategies, I am confident in my ability to provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in their academic pursuits. In light of the success of this initiative, I plan to implement similar feedback mechanisms in all my future teachings to ensure the continued enhancement of the learning experience for my students.
