Description

Revealing Khayamiya: Who are the Tentmakers of Cairo?

'Revealing Khayamiya: Who are the Tentmakers of Cairo?' was a video-conferenced seminar for the School of Communications and Creative Industries at Charles Sturt University on 25 September 2013 from 4pm to 5pm.This seminar provided an overview of all four research presentations recently given in the UK and Ireland on behalf of Charles Sturt University. Additionally, it charted the scope of the international research projects and diverse individuals contributing to the 'Khayamiya Project', and discussed implications of such multi-university collaborations for CSU's future research output. This research seminar consolidated the international lecturing and field research tour of the UK and Ireland towards my investigation of the art historical context of Khayamiya, or Egyptian Tentmaker Applique. It also situated my recent research in terms of international team processes and collaborative engagements with academic stakeholders that would prove useful for my colleagues in the SCCI and other fields of CSU.
