Description

I contributed a fully peer reviewed original research paper, titled "Fog Computing in 5G Enabled Smart Cities: Conceptual Framework, Overview and Challenges", participated and presented my research work in the IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2) in Casablanca, Morocco during October 2019. ISC2 is one of the premier flagship conference on smart cities and related innovative technologies sponsored by IEEE Smart Cities Community. In this conference I had the opportunity to present my work on smart cities, 5G and fog computing. These technologies are key building block of modern smart cities and are being deployed around the world. During the conference, I had the opportunity to meet and attend world renowned key note speakers in the conference. From this conference, I learnt the role and importance of new 5G technology which is currently being deployed in Australia and around the world. I also met industry people presenting their 5G solutions for real world. From these meetings and discussions, I learnt the global perspectives on the importance of 5G in modern societies. I have used these lessons learnt in my teaching at CSU. At particular, I teach and coordinate ITC513 Wireless Networking Concepts where we discuss these new innovative technologies. I used my knowledge gained from attending the ISC2 conference to educate my students about 5G, the role it plays and will play in our daily life and the benefits that students can present to potential employers. One of the topics in my ITC513 subject is on emerging wireless technologies and students also need to do one of the research assessment on these new technologies. My experience and knowledge from this scholarly activity enhanced my teaching of the subject and provided motivation to my students about this new technology.
