Description

Purpose of the workshop:
• To develop a shared understanding of the current response plans, resources and procedures developed to manage and guide wildlife response in bushfires
• Confirm the roles and responsibilities for the Technical Advisor Wildlife and the Wildlife Emergency Response Taskforce (WERT)
• To workshop the specific roles (taskforce leader, wildlife handler, vet, shooter and darter) within the Wildlife Emergency Response Taskforce (WERT)
• To clarify the role of the AASFA Supporting Plan and Wildlife Response Plan (in development) regarding Wildlife Response actions.
• To understand the purpose and extent of the ‘wildlife first aid training’ for firefighters
• To conduct an IMX (Incident Management Exercise) providing an opportunity for wildlife response personnel to operate within the incident management structures and recovery coordination centres in an escalating fire event scenario in NSW
• To trial the Worldwide Veterinary Service platform and app for WERT deployment (WVS app) and to engage with the ‘Televet’ service as part of the IMX
