Paul Grover, Charles Sturt University - "Year 12 final results do not decide the future"
Paul Grover is Lecturer in Education at Charles Sturt University. Previously Paul was Supervisor of Marking for HSC English & HSC English Exam Assessor for more than 10 years, as well as Head Teacher English & History and a senior secondary classroom teacher for 35 years.
"The good news about Year 12 results this year is that universities are providing multiple pathways and a variety of opportunities for entry to university studies if that’s your aim," says Mr Grover. "Year 12 final results do not decide the future.
"For some people a ‘gap year’ is valuable to develop skills and financial resources for future study, while for others a break from the grind of study is important in recharging batteries and having time to think about future directions.
"Year 12 results don’t decide the future, but they can help you think about the future. See where your strengths and interests lie, speak with people working in fields you are interested in, do your own research on career options that excite you and think about talking with your school’s Careers Adviser. Your Year 12 results are just one of many resources to use in exploring future study and career ideas."
