Interagency Disaster Drill
Fatumaru bay was abuzz with activity yesterday, as a coordinated team of emergency workers moved slowly and methodically through the piled rocks, searching for victims of a simulated building collapse.
VMF, Police, Municipal Wardens, Promedical Rescue as well as ProMedical paramedics all turned out to conduct a search and rescue drill in a simulated building collapse yesterday.
This is part of a month-long series of disaster response training exercises organised by Promedical Rescue with the support of the Rotary Club of Vanuatu.
A crowd of bystanders looked on as the team of approximately 30 rescue professionals and volunteers learned to coordinate and cooperate in saving lives in a first response scenario.
