A gifted Aboriginal elder will unveil her powerful life story in book form at Wagga City Library tonight.
Aunty Joyce Hampton’s book, Menindee Girl: The story of my life, tells of her people’s removal from Country into camps and eventual settlement in cities.
She hopes it will remind her family and children where they came from.
Collaborator and CSU PhD student Bernard Sullivan said it was a moving story.
"Aunty Joyce's book shows how, despite moving off her Country, she remains strongly attached to it, and immersed in her culture,” he said.
“Working together, over three years, we arranged her unique prints, drawings and historical images with contemporary photos.
“The result vividly describes her deep connections to place and people.”Producer/Author Nicolas Jungfer URL www.dailyadvertiser.com.au/story/4458235/aboriginal-elder-to-unveil-moving-life-story/ Persons Bernard Sullivan
