We Need to Do the Parallel Work: Rethinking Learning Outcomes in the Age of AI

Press/Media: Press / Media

Description

This article argues that universities must revise learning outcomes—not just assessments—to prepare students for an AI-integrated future. Current outcomes often focus on recall, not the critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and adaptability now required. While many institutions are focused on AI-resistant assessments, fewer are addressing whether their learning outcomes still reflect meaningful and measurable skills. International accrediting bodies are leading change, but higher education must act faster. Without aligning outcomes, teaching, and assessment, universities risk graduating students unprepared for the real world.
