Masaryk University MOU

Impact: Economic Impact, Cultural Impact, Environmental Impact, Quality of life Impact, Social Impact, Public policy Impact

Impact summary

I arranged for a visit to Masaryk University whilst in the Czech Republic in 2019 to establish a network and potential collaboration. I was then invited to contribute to a research study on the use of leisure in Disability to break down the barriers of institutionalisation and facilitate meaningful community participation. As a result I have written as a sole author a chapter which has been submitted for publication in two texts, one in Czech and the other in English (see related activities).

From here I have worked with Masaryk to extend the networking relationship to include both Environmental Sciences and Social Work at Charles Sturt and in December 2020 Environmental Science staff commenced cross teaching to Masaryk University students. This was received well by the Czech students and provided a different perspective to environmental issues and complemented their studies. Further planning for ongoing exchange of students, staff, expertise, research, and knowledge creation is occurring.

At my request and lead, a formal MOU was negotiated between Charles Sturt and Masaryk and signed 10 February 2021 to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.
