FOOD AS MEDICINE (FAM) is a multidisciplinary research group based at CSU Wagga Wagga campus. Our mission is to perform world-class training and research in Food and Medical Sciences, collaborating with our local, regional, national and international partners.
Consumer understanding of the impact of food and nutrition on chronic, metabolic diseases: Despite the prevalence of chronic and metabolic diseases, there exists a significant gap in consumer knowledge regarding how dietary choices influence these conditions. This lack of understanding hinders effective prevention and management strategies.
Exploring interventions to enhance the nutraceutical value of food and its ingredients: There is a need to explore effective interventions aimed at enhancing the nutraceutical value of food and its ingredients. This involves identifying methods and technologies that can optimize nutritional content to promote health benefits beyond basic nutrition.
What do we do?
The FAM research group at CSU Wagga Wagga utilises cutting edge technology, research methodologies (e.g., cell based and human clinical trials) and diagnostic tools to evaluate the impact of food and its ingredients on mechanisms of disease.
We engage in research projects that involve partnerships with local healthcare providers, partners and industries to tackle community issues.
