Personal profile

Dr. Abbas Hussein, a quantum physicist, earned his Master's degree in theoretical physics from Cairo University before completing his Ph.D. in physics at ANU in 2023. He held a post-doctoral position at the Quantum Science and Technology department of the Australian National University, where he focused on both theoretical and experimental aspects of cold atoms and quantum gases.

During his doctoral journey, Abbas delved into diverse areas of study, conducting numerical simulations on Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC), exploring BEC in optical dipole traps, and investigating optical lattice potentials.

Currently, he serves as a research fellow at the AI and Cyber Futures Institute, where his work involves theoretical research on the physical foundations of AI.

Abbas contributes to scientific literature on a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from chiral superfluids to the magnetic properties of charged bosons. 

Teaching

Abbas served as a Lecturer Assistant at Cairo University, contributing significantly to STEM education in STEM schools, Egypt. His teaching methodology stands out for its distinctiveness, blending theory with practical applications to enrich the undergraduate learning experience and make complex physics concepts more accessible.

As an experienced lecturer across year levels, Abbas has taught a wide range of courses such as, Quantum physics, Statistical physics, thermodynamics, and fundemental physics, with an experience in laboratory safety protocols dates back to 2010.
