Alison Devitt is a Research Fellow with the Three Rivers Department of Rural Health, with a focus on improving health outcomes for people with intellectual disability. She is an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant and Nursing Lecturer with expertise in chronic disease management, intellectual disability, and virtual healthcare.
Alison has a strong commitment to inclusive research, working alongside people with lived experience of disability to co-design and deliver research that is accessible, meaningful, and responsive to community priorities. In recognition of this work, she was selected as a 2026 recipient of the National Disability Research Partnership Leadership Program as a researcher with lived experience of disability.
Alison has played a key role in establishing two innovative virtual healthcare services that have improved access for populations historically excluded from digital care, including people with intellectual disability or cognitive impairment and older adults. Her research and publications centre on inclusive models of care, with a strong emphasis on equity in access and outcomes.
Alison was also awarded the Western Health Research Network (WHRN) Clinical Research Leader of the Year in 2024 in recognition of her leadership and impact in clinical research.
