Dr. Ashad Kabir is the Deputy Leader in Data Mining Research Group and a Senior Lecturer in Computing at Charles Sturt University, Australia. He has more than ten years teaching and research experience in a number of universities including Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Deakin University (Australia), Swinburne University of Technology (Australia), University of Nantes (France), Pusan National University (South Korea), University of Chittagong (Bangladesh) and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Bangladesh). Over the years, Dr. Kabir has been involved in a number of projects from different industries/institutions, including Rolls-Royce (Singapore), Samsung (South Korea), INRIA (France) and Computer Associate (Australia). Dr. Kabir received his Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Kabir has also been invited to visit the University of Toronto (Canada), York University (Canada), University of Maryland (USA), Texas A&M University - Kingsville (USA), Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand), Chandigarh University (India), Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and King Abdul-Aziz University (Saudi Arabia) as a guest speaker/keynote speaker/visiting scholar. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.

Research Interests

Dr Kabir is internationally recognized for his pioneering work on social context-aware software systems. He has made several key contributions around the development of social context-aware applications in the vibrant emerging research area of pervasive social computing at the intersections of social computing, context-aware computing, and software engineering. Dr Kabir has research experience in a range of areas of computer science. His research interests include Health Informatics, Smart Mobile Applications, Machine Learning and its applications in Health & Wellbeing and Agriculture, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Privacy, Human-Centric Computing,  and Pervasive/Ubiquitous Computing. He has published a book entitled Pervasive Social Computing - Socially Aware Pervasive Systems and Mobile Applications.

Professional Information

Dr Kabir is passionate about computer programming. He is keen to develop innovative mobile applications for domains such as elderly/healthcare, emergency management, vehicle, and social well-being. He is a Judge of the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition and IEEE Mobile Applications Development Contest.
