Elsie de Klerk is a lecturer in rural health and clinical educator with the Three Rivers Department of Rural Health at Charles Sturt University, Australia. She is a registered occupational therapist and an emerging academic whose work is driven by a commitment to rural health equity, mental health advocacy, and high quality clinical education.

Elsie’s recent research projects span several innovative areas, including:

  • Service-learning placements for allied health students in rural communities
  • The lived experiences of participants in an inclusive, regional dementia choir
  • The use of telesupervision to support allied health student clinical placements

In 2025, Elsie commenced her PhD, which explores how allied health clinicians experience shifts in professional identity upon transitioning into academic roles. Her research aims to inform workforce development strategies and support sustainable academic pathways for rural health professionals.
