Goutam Roy is a PhD student at the School of Education, Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, NSW, Australia. He is also working as a sessional staff and research assistant on a STEM project at this university.

Goutam is working as an Associate Professor (on study leave) in Education at the Institute of Education and Research, University of Rajshahi, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He is mainly responsible for teaching courses on research methods and evaluation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in his current role. His research interests include early childhood and primary education, community participation in schools, assessment of student learning, teaching-learning activities, science and online education. During his career in teaching and research, he presented several academic papers on some of the abovementioned areas at national and international conferences. He has also contributed to several books, book chapters and journal articles. Before starting his career in academia, he worked for two international NGOs in which he carried out several research projects on primary education, teaching and learning process, learning achievement of students, and program evaluation on school improvement and program effectiveness. He was also involved with some nationwide surveys on pre-primary and primary education in Bangladesh. He also has experience in doing collaborative work with some non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and different government bodies.
