Heather has worked for CSU for a total of 7 years full time in teaching, as Course Director and acting management roles.  She has also studied, distance education, with CSU through a number of degrees, so understands the benefits and challenges of this mode of study.

Heather's practice experience has been in rural NSW in a range of fields including direct practice and management in both government and non-government organisations in the context of mental health, sexual assault, generalist and relationship counselling, young people, adolescent mothers, victims of crime, drugs and alcohol, child protection, hospital social work and defence family support roles. She has a particular interest in the nexus between theory and practice and in management in human services. Heather has also provided clinical supervision and been a member of the management committee or several non-government organisations in the past.

Heather's publications have been in the area of eating disorders, adolescent pregnancy, clinical managers, social work field education, case management and narcissism and social work.
