Dr Jacalyn Hall began as a Lecturer of Psychology with Charles Sturt University 2023 as an Early Career Researcher. Jacalyn's PhD dissertation focused on the underlying mechanisms used to discern biological sex, whether evolutionary constructs or learnt criteria. Based on that work, recent research explores how our perception of females and males (e.g., an ideal body type) influences our judgements of biological sex.

More broadly, Jacalyn's research is on other-person perception. The way we perceive, categorise, and make snap-judgements of others in order to adapt our approach. For example, how does self-defence training influence threat perception of others, or how does empathy and abuse of teachers impact their perception/interaction with students.
