Personal profile

Dr Jane Garner is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information & Communication Studies at Charles Sturt University, and an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow.

Jane received her PhD from RMIT University in 2017. She also holds a Bachelor of Business, Information and Library Management from RMIT University.

Prior to starting at CSU, Jane worked in the Information Management team at RMIT University, teaching into their Masters of Information Management program. Jane has also undertaken sessional roles in information studies schools at Monash University and CSU.

Before commencing her teaching roles, Jane worked as an academic librarian at the University of Melbourne. 

Research Interests

Current research focuses on the role of libraries, reading and information provision to disadvantaged communities, with a particular focus on incarcerated communities, and people experiencing homelessness and other outcomes of poverty.
