Jess grew up on a beef farm in the Golburn Valley, Victoria and completed her undergraduate degree at Charles Sturt University, studying phyto-oestrogens in lucerne and their effects on beef cattle for her honours in 2019. Jess undertook her PhD at CSU from 2020 - 2024, continuing to research phyto-oestrogens and the effect on the fertility of beef cattle. 

Jess started as a Post Doctoral researcher in 2024, looking at drought resilience of mixed farming systems.
