Professor John Germov is Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Charles Sturt University, Australia. He is a past President of the Australasian Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (DASSH, 2013-1015) and a former President of the Australian Sociological Association. John has an international reputation in the social determinants of health and his research spans food consumption and production, public health nutrition policy, workplace change, youth and health behaviour, alcohol consumption and harm minimisation, wine studies, and the history of sociology. He has published 24 books, including: Public Sociology: An Introduction to Australian Society (4th ed. 2019), Second Opinion: An Introduction to Health Sociology (6th ed. 2018), Hunter Wine: A History (2018), and A Sociology of Food and Nutrition: The Social Appetite (4th ed. 2017).
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
