Personal profile

Kasey is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Studies. She is a part of the Teacher Librarianship team and also the Coordinator of the Children's Specialisation for the Masters of Information Studies. Kasey earned her PhD in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, in the United States. Her dissertation research used a mixed methods design to investigate factors influencing the selection and collection development of multicultural children's literature in public libraries. Kasey has experience across school levels in the library as well as teaching Spanish and students with exceptional learning needs. She has also served as head librarian and manager for a special library and archives collection at Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk.

  • The availability of culturally diverse literature in library collections for children and young adults
  • The quality and value of global literature for teaching and learning in libraries and schools
  • The relationship between metacognition and the school library curriculum and teacher librarians' practices and beliefs about metacognition and metacognitive strategies
