Katie is an Honours student and lecturer at Charles Sturt University.
Katie is a Registered Nurse with clinical experience in oncology, haematology, refugee health and emergency and trauma. Katie has sought out challenging experiences, including working in remote Australia and managing an adult and paediatric chemotherapy clinic in Saudi Arabia. Katie has a deep interest in people, and how people live.
Katie transitioned to the higher education sector. She has 10 years experience creating and facilitating innovative educational experiences for undergraduate student nurses. Katie uses a range of active learning strategies to promote self-regulation of learning, engagement and critical thinking in her students. Katie is also a creative writer, with fictional and non-fictional works published worldwide.
Katie's educational research interests are in assessment, using VR technology for story-telling and drama for teaching in the health professions, and narrative medicine.
Katie is also passionate about child and family health and is currently progressing through her Honours in Health Science, which is focused on parental well-being and childcare.
