Personal profile

Personal profile

I am a registered paramedic with over twenty years of experience in paramedic education. I have held several Senior Leadership roles whilst employed as an Intensive Care Paramedic (ICP) and Paramedic Educator (PE) with Ambulance Tasmania (AT) and Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine positions at the University of Tasmania (UTAS), University of the Sunshine Coast (USC.), and Charles Sturt University (CSU). I have been influential in the evolution of paramedic education from a pre-employment vocational model to a higher education evidence-based post-employment model.

I am passionate about the research supporting the valuable and critical linkages between education and research, vital in evidence-based, informed health care.

I completed my PhD in 2019, investigating the impact mental health literacy levels have on paramedics' knowledge, skills and attitudes when called to assist patients with mental health presentations.

My passion for mental health and well-being has also led me to undertake research on paramedic and paramedic student’s well-being as well.
