Personal profile

I am an Associate Professor and Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Coordinator at the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES), Charles Sturt University and Head of Secretariat of the International Network of Customs Universities (INCU). I am a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, High Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand, and an Honorary Customs Officer of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

I am currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Customs Scientific Journal (CSJ), a member of the Board of Advisors of the Journal of Customs and Economics Review (JCER), a member of the Advisory Council of the Global Trade Development Week (GTDW), and a Visiting Scholar at Shanghai Customs College and the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Research Interests

My research interests include offshore oil and gas industry, maritime security, law of the sea, international supply chain security, international trade and customs law. I am currently pursuing a research project on customs regulation of the oil and gas industry.

Teaching

I have been involved in teaching (including curriculum development and delivery) at a tertiary level for more than 15 years and have lectured on a number of topics including international commercial transactions, international trade law, international supply chain management, environmental taxation, transnational crime, customs research methods and project.

I am also currently the HDR Coordinator for CCES and a PhD supervisor of several students at CSU.
