Myra is an overseas-trained Registered Nurse who migrated to Australia in 2010. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing and has completed her Master in Nursing with Clinical Education and Leadership being the core units. She has extensive experience within the acute care surgical environment and a broad range of education experience.
She also has leadership and education experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, an After-Hours Manager and a Clinical Facilitator. She believes that, regardless of the specialist area of expertise, developing strong working relationships with colleagues, patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team is essential to ensure that person-centred care is a priority. She is a committed educator, who is passionate about ensuring that the training and assessment environment incorporates the principles of adult education, that is ensuring the specific needs and learning styles of the student are met.
Teaching
Myra has worked as a trainer and assessor and course coordinator at Key2Learning College from 2018-2019 teaching and coordinating the Certificate III Community Services, Certificate III Individual Support and Certificate IV Ageing Support courses.
In 2019 she progressed on to work at the Australian College of Nursing as a nurse academic coordinating the Graduate Certificate in Nursing – Bridging and Re-entry and then coordinating the Immunisation for Health Practitioners’ Course (HESA-approved). She currently also works periodically as an accreditation assessor at Health Education Services Australia (HESA) reviewing and assessing immunisation courses for accreditation.
She started at Charles Sturt University as a casual academic in 2020 and has now progressed to a Lecturer in Nursing teaching tutorials, intensive schools & nursing labs.
