Natalia Bilton received her PhD from the School of Behavioural Sciences, The University of Newcastle for studies into the biochemical and environmental mediators underlying eye growth. In 2008, she completed post-doctoral research in the Vision Sciences Laboratory, The University of Newcastle. Here she performed immunohistochemical studies in immediate early genes associated with eye growth in mammalian models. In 2009, she moved to Thursday Island, Queensland, where she taught Indigenous students at James Cook University.
In 2011, she moved to The School of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University, Townsville and in 2013 commenced a teaching position in the School of Biomedical Sciences, Charles Sturt University. To date she has published research articles and abstracts in journals such as the Journal of Comparative Physiology A: Neuroethology, Sensory, Neural, and Behavioural Physiology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science and Experimental Eye Research. Natalia has been teaching anatomy and physiology for over 15 years.
