Using her previous horitcultural industry experience Nicola has a research focus on soil carbon, climate change and agricultural land use, integrating her knowledge of soil dynamics. other research areas include biodiversity and agricultural production processes combining biophysical and economic elements to improve agricultural productivity and reduce the impact of climate change on food supply.
Prior to joining CSU Nicola worked in private sector consulting focused on environmental projects. Some of the projects she led included climate change impacts on Victorian roads, agricultural land use evaluation, developing Lake Eildon houseboat greywater treatment and discharge specifications, evaluation of water basins including infrastructure investment, economic impact of climate risk, licence allocation and activation.
