Dr Pauline Gillan is a senior lecturer with the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare Sciences at Charles Sturt University. Pauline is an experienced nursing lecturer with over 15 years of experience at a number of Schools of Nursing in Australia who is passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education. As the Head of Discipline of the Postgraduate Nursing courses, she has a special interest in quality education for students studying graduate certificates through to Master of Nursing.
Pauline's research interests are in palliative care, end of life care, aged care nursing, gender and equality, nursing education using simulation, interprofessional simulation and deteriorating patient simulation.
Palliative care and end of life care: recent research, including her PhD includes undergraduate nursing education using simulation to promote best practice palliative care and end of life care.
Aged care: with a focus on skin care at the end of life and avoidable hospital transfers at the end of life.
Gender and equality: investigating barrirers to LGBTIQ+ people accessing mental health services in rural, regional and remote settings in NSW.
Deteriorating patient simulation: Pauline works in collaboration with colleagues at other universities applying deteriorating patient simulation in a range of contexts and using different simulation approaches.
