Personal profile

Peter is a researcher and communicator. He has led grant and consultancy projects in health, education, environment and sport. His research interests span interpersonal and organisational communication as well as rural health and mental health.

In 2025 he completed 3 studies for CSU Rural Health Research Institute:

  • Lead Investigator - Early Childhood Development Service Planning Capacity Building in Western NSW (Consultancy for Western NSWLHD) - mapping and categorising qualitative and quantitative data for 51 child development services across 9 LGAs in WNSWLHD Northern sector.
  • Chief investigator - Evaluation of the Gippsland After Hours GP Health Care Program (Consultancy for Healthy Communities Foundation Australia) – qualitative and quantitative evaluation of efficiency, appropriateness and patient satisfaction after 2 years of operation of a telehealth delivered GP service in Gippsland Victoria.
  • Chief investigator – Evaluation of the Bathurst Men’s Walk and Talk program – qualitative and quantitative evaluation of impacts and model after 5 years of program.

In 2024 his research underpinned establishment of the Justice Reinvestment Project in Kelso, and his research and communication strategy underpinned an award winning campaign to improve safety of driving on Roundabouts

In 2023 he established the successful LowCost or NoCost Exercise Directory in Bathurst.

In 2022 he led a study for the National Mental health Commission on the impacts of COVID 19 on rural and remote communities, and published a study of approaches to mental wellbeing of rural small business people.

Betrween 2019 and 2021 Peter was a CSU Research Fellow focused on evidence that supports effective public policy and communication strategies. He led teams of researchers gathering evidence of community attitudes to sharks that had significant impact, contributing to important changes to NSW shark management practices

Peter has worked on teaching teams designing and delivering in-house training to strategic communication staff in some of Australia's leading organisations including the Australian Defence Forces, Australian Tax Office, Australian Mutual Provident and the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Peter is the appointed external examiner for the BA Communication PR (Honours) at University Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar,  Malaysia, and the MSc Performance Enhancement in Sport Officiating at Napier University in Edinburgh. UK.
