Dr Rafiqul Islam is working as a Professor at the School of Computing, Mathematics & Engineering, Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences, Charles Sturt University, Australia. Dr Islam has a strong research background in Cybersecurity, with a specific focus on malware analysis and classification, Authentication, cloud security, privacy in social media, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He served as Academic Lead of the Cybersecurity Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), led the Cybersecurity research team, and has developed a strong background in leadership, sustainability, and collaborative research in this area. He has a strong publication record and has published more than 230 peer-reviewed research papers. His contribution is recognised both nationally and internationally through achieving various awards, such as the professional excellence award, the research excellence award, and the leadership award. In 2021, Dr Islam received the Cyber Security Researcher of the Year Award from the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) for a project funded by the Cyber Security CRC and Quintessence Lab.  Dr Islam has been recognised as a national leader in his research field, ‘cybersecurity’, which is now a national/International research priority (financial, political, and social aspects). He is a co-recipient of more than 10 external grants with a combined cash funding (excluding in-kind contributions) of more than $7.5M to the projects. He is also Co-Investigator on a successful Cybersecurity CRC (68 M), to which he contributes to projects related to Resilient Networks, Security and configuration management of IoT systems, Platform & Architecture of cybersecurity as a service, and malware detection and removal.
