Associate Professor Rosemary Black's areas of expertise are in the fields of ecotourism, sustainability, tour guiding and environmental communication. This expertise has been developed over the past 40 years through both industry experience and research. Her current research interests and work are in tour guiding, community-based tourism and sustainability. She has published over 70 refereed publications including 49 refereed journal articles and conference papers, 23 refereed book chapters and 6 books. She was Senior Editor for three of the books. Rosemary co-authored  "Tour Guiding Research: Insights, Issues and Implications" by Channel View Publications. she has published in a wide range of international refereed journals.. Rosemary undertakes applied research with industry partners including protected area management, tourism agencies and community-based organizations and has successfully gained over $500,000 in research and consultancy funding. Rosemary holds two Ministerial appointments with the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service Advisory Council and North Coast Regional Advisory Committee, is a Board Member of the Global Sustainable  Tourism Council and an invited member of Parks Victoria Science and Management Effectiveness Committee. She is an Associate Editor for  two international tourism journals.
