Personal profile

The main area of Samar's research is studying the awareness of Australian pregnant and breastfeeding women of safety of complementary medicines.

The use of complementary medicines is growing sharply in Australia and most consumers are women, including pregnant and breastfeeding women.

There is a general belief that complementary medicines, especially herbs, are natural and so they are safe. Many studies revealed that many of these medications have side-effects and some of them have complementary medicines/conventional drugs interactions.

In addition, the research also aims to study the awareness of Pharmacists of safety of complementary medicines.
