Dr Leo S.F. Lin is a Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University’s School of Policing Studies, with 20 years of policing and security experience. He holds a PhD in International Development and Security Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi, an MA in International Relations from the University of Indianapolis, and a BA in Criminal Justice and Police Science from Central Police University, Taiwan. Dr Lin’s research investigates policing, transnational security threats, cybercrime, organised crime, AI-enabled offences, terrorism, financial crime, and emergency management across the Indo-Pacific. Spanning criminology, political science, and international relations, his work strengthens strategic law enforcement, intelligence, and public safety. With previous academic roles at Ming Chuan University, Central Police University, the University of Malaya, and the University of Glasgow, he is well-prepared to contribute to programs from undergraduate to higher degrees in policing, crime, and security studies.

He investigates intelligence analysis and its role in shaping law enforcement responses to emerging threats like cryptocurrency-related crimes and online extremism. Dr Lin also examines emergency management and public safety, focusing on resilience-building in communities facing cross-border crises. His multidisciplinary approach integrates criminology, political science, and international relations to address leadership and management in policing, compliance frameworks, and geopolitical influences on security policy. With a strong emphasis on practical outcomes, his research supports strategic advancements in law enforcement, regulatory practices, and community safety, aligning with global trends and regional priorities.
