Shayne is a Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at Charles Sturt University. He also holds adjunct senior academic appointments at the University of Canberra, University of Exeter (UK), and VinUniversity (Vietnam). He has expertise in computed tomography (CT), diagnostic radiography, and neuroimaging biomarkers.

Shayne is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA). He holds three Masters degrees: Public Health (UNSW), Health Management and Leadership (UNSW), and Medical Imaging Science (University of Sydney), along with a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education. He was awarded First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging).

Shayne has authored 48 peer-reviewed journal articles, 8 book chapters, and edited three international textbooks. He regularly presents at national and international conferences. He has supervised multiple research projects for MD students and radiology registrars across Australia and Southeast Asia.

He is a Section Editor for Cancer Control (Q2), an Editorial Board Member and ASssociate Editor of the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.

Shayne is currently completing his Juris Doctor at Macquarie University, with a focus on health law, ethics, and AI regulation.

He serves on the ACT Radiation Advisory Committee and the Accreditation Committee of the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA).
