Dr Shayne Chau is a Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at Charles Sturt University. He also holds adjunct Senior Lecturer positions and is an Associate Professor at VinUniversity through its Global Affiliate Program, with expertise in computed tomography (CT), diagnostic radiography, and neuroimaging biomarkers. He has previously held academic positions at the University of South Australia, RMIT University, and the University of Canberra.
Shayne is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA). He is also Chair of the Teaching Innovation in Radiography Group, leading national collaboration in diagnostic radiography education and research.
He completed a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of South Australia and holds three Master’s degrees in Public Health and Health Leadership and Management (University of New South Wales), and Medical Imaging Science (University of Sydney). He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Computed Tomography/Image Interpretation and Clinical Education (Flinders University), and was awarded First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging). Shayne has extensive clinical experience as a CT and emergency department radiographer across both public and private health settings.
He is a regular invited speaker at national and international conferences. His research spans neuroimaging, diagnostic radiography, education, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and has an h-index of 18.

Outside of his academic work, Shayne is a member of the Radiation Advisory Committee (ACT Health), an Accreditation Committee Member and Accreditation Assessor with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA), Council Member of the Medical Radiation Practice Council of NSW, a Clinical Council Member of the Murrumbidgee Local Health Network, and a member of the NSW Rural Health Network Clinical Focus Subgroup.
