Personal profile

Sindiso Bhebhe, a former archivist with over a decade of experience, is now an academic specialising in records and archives management. His focus is on the complexities of preserving and providing access to the records of marginalised communities. He holds a PhD in Information Science, specialising in records and archives management. Sindiso's research employs critical theories to explore often-overlooked archives on society's fringes, particularly those representing neglected knowledge systems/epistemologies in both the Global South and the Global North. A key aspect of his work involves community archives, where he investigates how these local collections can serve as vital resources for underrepresented communities. He is particularly interested in how these archives can empower marginalised voices and contribute to a more inclusive understanding of history. Additionally, Sindiso examines the impact of emerging technologies on record-keeping in general.

Sindiso is eager to connect with prospective doctoral students whose research interests align with these themes. If you are passionate about exploring these critical areas, please review the admission requirements on the Charles Sturt University website. Feel free to reach out via email to share your research ideas or to submit a fully developed proposal that aligns with the focus areas outlined above.
