Dr Travis Holland is a Senior Lecturer in Communication at Charles Sturt University, Australia. Travis teaches both undergraduate and masters subjects on digital media, communication theory, and research strategies. Before joining CSU, he lectured and tutored at the University of Wollongong in communication and media studies for several years, specialising in digital communication.

Travis' current research focus is on the relationship between science and media. He is working on projects exploring the role of podcasting in palaeontology, informal education through museums and outreach initiatives, and the role of televisual images in human spaceflight. 

Outside of academia, Travis has worked as both a contracted and freelance journalist, as a freelance content producer for marketing agencies, and in politics.

Teaching

Travis has supervised Masters, PhD, and Honours research students working on topics including: 

  • sport communication and digital mediatisation
  • health communication via podcasts
  • local government and social media 
  • rural women podcasting

He is particularly interested in developing future student projects in science communication.
