Personal profile

Wendy is Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead for the Adult and Vocational Education in the School of Education at Charles Sturt University. She has been a practitioner in the adult education field for over 30 years. Wendy’s research focus is on how adult educators develop their professional expertise. Her research utilises Constructivist Grounded Theory and Situational Analysis methods. Wendy is Co-Chair of Charles Sturt University’s Grounded Theory Research Group.

Research Interests:

  • Wendy's research interests centre on vocational educators development of professional competence including the impact of global citizenship education as well as broader vocational education and training (VET) curriculum and policy issues. She has a special interest in constructivist grounded theory and supervises and mentors a number of HDR students.

Teaching:

  • Wendy has developed and delivered Adult and Vocational Education subjects across its suite of programs from the Associate Degree to Masters, with both a practical and theoretical focus including development of effective distance-based teaching strategies that model best practice in vocational education and training utilising CSU’s online teaching environment. As Academic Lead for Adult and Vocational Education, she oversees the development and continuous improvement of the program. In 2025, Wendy was also the Education Lead for CSU’s consultancy to develop the National Agricultural Training Package for Papua New Guinea.
