Dr Zemenu Yohannes Kassa is a public health researcher who joined the Rural Public Health Institute at Charles Sturt University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Epidemiology. Dr Kassa obtained his PhD at the Faculty of Health, University Technology Sydney in 2024, and his MSc in Maternity and Reproductive Health at Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
He has more than 10 years of extensive experience in quantitative and qualitative research, focusing on various public health issues, as well as conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he served as a researcher and lecturer at College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Hawassa University, Hawassa Ethiopia. He also gained experience studying the impact of emerging diseases on maternal health services in low-resource settings.
In addition to his research capabilities, Dr Kassa has extensive experience in supervising and mentoring students. He has successfully supervised eight master’s students, guiding them through title selection, research question formulation, study design, data collection, data analysis, report writing, dissemination of findings, and manuscript crafting to submission to suitable peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Kassa is involved in various research projects and collaborations and has published more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently working as an academic editor for PLOS ONE and SAGE Women's Health.
